The Craziest Opportunity Meeting I Ever Did In MLM
by David Ledoux, Founder

Hey, how are you? Pull up a chair by the fireplace and stay a while. Let me
make you a sandwich. Do you like roast beef? Here's something to munch on.
Let me tell you a story.
I've been in the MLM game since 1988. That's a long time and I've seen some
wild, wild stuff.
I've seen a fight break out at an opportunity meeting. I've had a lady die
at an opportunity meeting. I've had drunk hecklers. I've had the host call
me an asshole during my introduction to show the plan. I've had a young
couple making out at the back. I've had the presenter get stage fright and
leave the meeting!
I've had product displays come crashing down. Overhead projector bulbs burn
out. Product testimonials go on for 15 minutes, unable to get the microphone
back. I've had a guy scream, "It's a pyramid scam!" during a business
testimonial. Fire alarms. Dog shows. An auction next door. I remember when
the presenter fainted as I was about to take the whiteboard.
Yup, I've seen some crazy meetings.
And yet we just kept rolling. Month after month. Year after year. Building
leaders in depth.
But one meeting in particular stands out. It was at my house.
We had just come back from the annual company convention. It was so
exciting! They launched a new skin care product and we brought back as many
samples as we could carry.
I told the leader of one of my legs who lived 25 minutes away from me that I
was going to "show the plan" to a prospect at my house next Tuesday, and my
wife was going to do a skin care demonstration to a neighbor. It was just
casually mentioned over coffee. No big deal.
Next Tuesday rolled around. Nearly 70 people showed up to my house! They
brought guests. They brought friends and relatives. Holy Cow! I was shocked.
No one told me. They just went into major event promotion mode.
My leader had put the word out in a big way. People drove 2 or 3 hours to
show up. It was bedlam!
I stuck my leader in the basement with about 25 people sitting on the floor
around the TV and VCR. He put on the company video and did his best to
explain the opportunity.
I jammed as many women around the dining room table with my poor wife and
they had a skin care party. Every sample was gobbled up, rubbed on, tested
and they were so loud! Party was the right word!
And I took as many as I could into the living room with my whiteboard. Every
square inch of floor space was taken up. There were people in the hallway,
craning their necks to catch a peek. The excitement in the air was
palatable!
And finally, just for fun I put on my speakerphone, and dialed into my
conference call line. I emailed a few of my long distance group to listen in
and catch the fever. The one thing I forgot was to videotape it. Man, that
tape would have lit some fires!
We ran out of coffee, making pot after pot. We did paperwork with the new
signups until nearly midnight. It really got that line energized and
rolling. Here it is nearly 6 years later, and we still earn a residual
income from work we did that night.
Question. Would you like to work one evening and make money from that
evening for the rest of your life?
Well?
MLM is a simple business. Pull out your day timer. Book an event. Then
promote the heck out of it!
I appreciate you.
