The Strangest Phone Call I Had Last Week

My private cell phone rang last week at 7:30 AM.
Nearly no one has that number. No one calls me that early...ever.
I didn't recognize the caller id.
"Hello?"
"Hi David, it's Bill in Pine Creek Idaho."
"Who?"
"It's Bill. I've been reading your ezine for the last year. My friend at the
phone company got me your number. I want you to be my coach."
It was a strange start to the day to be sure. Looking back, I'm not so sure
I buy the whole "friend at the phone company" thing. Can a guy in Idaho
really find an unlisted Canadian cell phone? But he caught me with my guard
down. I began to "chit chat" with Bill.
"Bill, my coaching program has a waiting list and is $1200 per month. You'll
have to contact my office direct to get on the list."
"No, I can't, I don't have time. I have been in my MLM deal for 3 years now,
and I'm stuck. I need help now!"
I get requests like this all the time. And I can totally relate. We're all
in a desperate hurry to find success. We look to books, tapes, gurus,
videos, seminars and lots of experts. Rush, rush, rush....
I began to quiz Bill a little on how he builds, why he does what he does,
how his group has grown, and how he measures certain vital statistics of his
organization. Guess what I discovered about Bill?
He isn't really a "3-year veteran". More like 1 year times 3. Instead of
growing his business year after year, he's really been stuck in Kindergarten
for the past 24 months. He makes the same silly mistakes that didn't work
two years ago. He doesn't measure important things. He's desperately
inconsistent. He's obsessed with gadgets, autoresponders, fancy powerline
websites and the latest flash movies. And it reflects in his bonus check.
The one thing that shocked me was this. He was ready to throw over a grand a
month at me in a desperate hope that my magic would rub off on him. And yet
he hadn't even read my course the Ultimate MLM Blueprint for fewer than one
hundred bucks! I did the honorable thing and pointed him at the Blueprint
for 90 days.
"Bill, you need to get grounded in methodology that works. Hi tech equals no
check. Get out of the house and in front of real humans. Create a
franchisable system for your organization so they stop wandering off the
cliff. Fax me your weekly tracking sheets and in a few months we'll talk
about me coaching you."
Here's the million-dollar question.
Do you think Bill will follow through?
When one "expert" doesn't tell you what you want to hear, do you find
another that will?

2. How many 2-on-1 presentations did I give LAST WEEK? (if 3 or more, score

3. How many frontline partners did I enroll LAST MONTH? (if 2 or more, score
1 point)
4. How many NO-SHOWS did I get LAST WEEK? (if 1 or more, score 1 point)
5. How many prospects said "NO!" LAST WEEK? (if 3 or more, score 1 point)
If all you did was track those 5 variables for a year, and scored a
consistent 10 points per month, I know you'd be further ahead than 95% of
everyone in your entire company.
